Witcher 3 Remastered Songs of the Past: Letten in 2027

Songs of the Past is the third story expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. It is scheduled for 2027. It is not part of the September 29, 2026 Remastered client. CD PROJEKT RED is co-developing it with Fool’s Theory, the Polish studio also leading the remake of the first game, and the combined team is large enough that CDPR is willing to call this Geralt’s last outing before Ciri takes the sequel. This page is a briefing: region, people, weapon, store flags, and what to do while you wait. It is not a walkthrough. The intro quest is named A Bed of Thorns; beyond that title there is no quest list to complete, no spoiler map of Letten’s cursed garden, and no invented boss HP. Wishlist it on your store, play Remastered, and come back when a date exists.

Letten, Dandelion, and the job

Letten is Dandelion’s homeland. The bard’s real name is Julian Alfred Pankratz, Viscount de Lettenhove; the expansion opens around that family seat with the intro quest A Bed of Thorns. Fool’s Theory placed the region in the north, roughly between Kovir and Kaedwen — Gulf of Praxeda, up the Buina, right onto the Nimnar, southern shore. That puts it nearer the Witcher 4 geography than Toussaint is, which is the point. CDPR’s public copy calls Letten idyllic: rural tradition, harvests, festivals, and a dark secret under the soil. Geralt travels with Dandelion on a personal matter, finds a land that looks too peaceful for a witcher, and then finds the reason it was never going to stay that way.

The story was originally conceived at CDPR by writers who worked on the base game and then set aside. Fool’s Theory picked it up years later. Expansion director commentary has framed the relationship with Dandelion as the emotional spine — a long friendship that never got its own region. Treat that as tone, not as a quest log. Doug Cockle returns as Geralt. New monsters are part of the pitch; the Swarmion (a hornet-shielded threat) is one named example from previews. Previews also discuss extra Gwent cards for Letten — an inn-table expansion, not a card list this wiki will invent; the base game still lives on Gwent. New mutagens are also promised. None of that is a farm route yet.

The chain

Geralt’s new tool is a silver chain. Veterans will recognize it from the opening cinematic of the first Witcher game and from the striga fight in Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Last Wish. Previews describe it as a crowd-control weapon that sits in a similar mental slot to the crossbow: a quick throw, or a slower aimed shot that can target body parts, with time slow similar to the existing crossbow zoom. It yanks single enemies out of a pack, cracks a Swarmion’s hornet shield, and feeds the finisher language Remastered is already adding to the base combat. Ciri’s Witcher 4 trailers use a similar weapon; this expansion is the Geralt-side rehearsal, not a sequel spoiler dump.

Do not theory-craft a “chain build” against unpublished Remastered skill nodes. The chain is an expansion weapon. The September 29 tree rewrite is a remaster system. They will meet in 2027, not in White Orchard this September.

What it is not

• Not a free upgrade. Remastered is the free client. Songs of the Past is a paid expansion. Price is unpublished.
• Not on Switch 1. Platforms listed so far are PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2.
• Not a walkthrough target. Any page that lists Letten quest order before the expansion ships is guessing.
• Not a replacement for Blood and Wine. Toussaint remains the 2016 finale. Owners gained Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine at no extra cost on August 25, 2026. Play them. Letten is a later chapter, not a skip.
• Not multiplayer. Still a single-player RPG.

Wishlist, Battle.net, and the Diablo IV skin

You can wishlist Songs of the Past on the stores that already show it, including Xbox. Battle.net is the new CDPR partnership store for both Remastered and the expansion. Players who purchase Songs of the Past on Battle.net unlock a Geralt-inspired skin in Diablo IV; CDPR said further details would follow around BlizzCon. That skin is a store bonus, not an in-Witcher item. It does not change Letten, the chain, or your Death March bar.

Fool’s Theory’s involvement is the production guarantee people asked for after a decade. The studio hired veterans of The Witcher 2 and 3. CDPR still leads. If you care about studio credits more than about silver chains, Official Links is where to watch the REDstreams rather than this briefing.

The useful work in 2026 is still Remastered. Learn the new combat, the flexible tree, and transmog. Finish the Baron. Finish Skellige. Finish Toussaint so a 2027 voyage to Letten is a coda, not a first ending. When CDPR names a month, this page will stop being a teaser glossary and start being a packing list. Until then, wishlist it, keep your save on a store that will actually sell the expansion, and do not wait in White Orchard for a chain that is a year away.
