Witcher 3 Remastered Dandelion, Not a Playable Witcher

Dandelion is Geralt’s oldest living headache and one of the Continent’s actual poets. In English he is Dandelion. In several other languages — and in the Netflix series — he is Jaskier. The man under both names is Julian Alfred Pankratz, Viscount de Lettenhove. He is a companion, a quest-giver, a Gwent table, and a plot compass in Novigrad. He is not playable. When The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches September 29, 2026, you still never take the pad as the bard. You play Geralt. You play Ciri in authored sequences. Dandelion talks, sings, gets into debt, and leaves the swords to the witcher.

Who he is when the lute is down

Dandelion is a viscount who would rather be a troubadour. He publishes Geralt’s life at a volume Geralt did not authorize. He also keeps doors open in cities where a witcher’s medallion is a problem: publishers, patrons, criminals who like a famous guest. The Wild Hunt story uses that network. Searching for Ciri in Novigrad means searching for the bard who last had a lead, which means walking into the city’s four-crime-boss mess whether you wanted a song or not.

He is not a second combat class. He does not drink Swallow. He does not cast Quen. If a mod or a thumbnail promises “playable Dandelion in Remastered,” it is community fiction or a different product. Cross-platform mods can add theatre; they cannot rewrite the shipped roster. See Mods if that is the itch, then come back.

Voice and face get the remaster presentation pass — hair, shading, the Novigrad night lighting that Photo Mode will abuse — but the role does not change. He is still the man who needs rescuing more often than he admits.

Novigrad: the companion thread, without the endings

Once White Orchard and the Vizima audience are behind you, the map pushes toward Novigrad because Dandelion was in Ciri’s orbit. The quests that follow are Geralt jobs with a bard-shaped hole:

• You look for him. The trail runs through the city’s underworld, not through a concert hall first.
• You meet the people who used him, hid him, or want him quiet. Whoreson Junior sits on that road. So do Dijkstra, Roche, and the rest of the Novigrad political animals. You do not need their endings to understand the shape: Dandelion borrowed trouble and Geralt pays interest.
• You get him back into a life that looks like a stage. The cabaret work with Priscilla is the civilian half of the Novigrad chapter — building a house of songs in a city that burns books. This page will not tell you how that house ends, who walks out, or which performance flags later letters. Play it. It is one of the reasons Novigrad is not only a fistfight.
• You can sit him at a Gwent table. He is part of the collection circuit. If you rush the main thread, you can miss unique cards on people who only deal while their quest is live. The Gwent Guide is the rules; this paragraph is the warning that the bard’s city is full of missable opponents.

Quest order for the opening region stays on the White Orchard Walkthrough. Novigrad’s later-act endings stay off this page on purpose. If you want mechanical help for the fights you take around him, use Combat and Getting Started. The bard will not teach you Yrden.

Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine were granted at no extra cost on August 25, 2026. They are Geralt contracts and a Toussaint court. Dandelion is not their protagonist. Do not wait for an Ofieri lute DLC that does not exist.

Letten, Jaskier, and Songs of the Past

Songs of the Past is a paid 2027 expansion. It is not in the September 29 remaster package. Fool’s Theory is co-developing it with CD PROJEKT RED. The pitch is a personal voyage: Geralt travels with Dandelion to Letten, the viscount’s homeland, finds a rural idyll with harvests and festivals, and then finds the reason a witcher was going to be needed anyway.

Public material so far, and no further:

• Letten sits in the north, described as roughly between Kovir and Kaedwen. It is a new region, not a Toussaint reskin.
• The emotional spine is the long friendship, not a new romance checklist. Treat that as tone.
• Geralt’s new tool is a silver chain — crowd control, a pull, a rehearsal of a weapon language Ciri’s sequel has also shown. It is Geralt’s toy. Dandelion does not become a chain fighter.
• Previews mention a Swarmion. REDstreams have discussed more Gwent cards. Gamescom and VGC footage named an intro quest, A Bed of Thorns. Those are labels on a reel. This page will not route them.
• Doug Cockle returns as Geralt. The bard remains the companion you came with.

If you only know him as Jaskier from television, you are still in the right article. The remaster does not rename the English NPC. Songs of the Past does not turn the show’s version into a playable class. Same viscount, same lute, new map in 2027.

Wishlist the expansion on a store that will sell it. Play Novigrad first so Letten is a coda for a friendship you actually sat through, not a wiki summary. Details, store flags, and the Diablo IV skin caveat live on Songs of the Past. The SKU split — two old expansions included, this one paid — lives on Expansions.

Replay Remastered as Geralt with the 2026 combat pass, let Dandelion talk you into one more terrible idea in Novigrad, and keep a Toussaint-ready save for later. When 2027 names a month, the viscount’s garden becomes a place you ride into, not a footnote under Ciri. Until then he is what he has always been in this game: a companion you cannot control, a lead you cannot skip if you want Novigrad to make sense, and the only man on the Continent who would call a witcher’s life a ballad while the swords are still wet.
