The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered launches September 29, 2026 as a free upgrade for owners on GOG, Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 1 owners can claim the Nintendo Switch 2 edition. CD PROJEKT RED is building the remaster with Yigsoft. The campaign remains a single-player open-world RPG: Geralt of Rivia searches for Ciri on a Continent that sold more than 65 million copies and collected 250-plus Game of the Year awards in its original form.

This hub is the map for every how-to on the wiki. Use it to open the page that matches your problem instead of rereading the same onboarding notes on five different URLs.

Who should read what

New to the Continent. Start with Getting Started. It covers difficulty, the first two hours in White Orchard, save habits, inventory weight, Places of Power, and when it is actually worth riding toward Vizima. Pair it with Controls so Quick Sign Casting, camera distance, and accessibility toggles are set before you take a griffin contract.

You already own the original and only want the new build. Open How to Upgrade first. It walks store-by-store through Steam, GOG, Epic, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2, and the first-time Battle.net listing. It also covers Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine (base-game owners gained access at no extra cost on August 25, 2026), the Windows 11 and SSD hardware gate, and the classic-branch fallback if a PC cannot run native DirectX 12.

You remember the plot but your sword timing is rusty. Jump to the Combat Guide for light and heavy attacks, dodge versus roll, Quen as a default, oils, new finishers, enhanced monster behaviors, and the targeting and camera work CD PROJEKT RED described in remaster interviews. Then read Signs and Alchemy so Igni is not the only tool you press on Death March.

You are replaying White Orchard on purpose. Use the White Orchard Walkthrough for Devil by the Well, the griffin contract, the Nilfgaardian garrison, Places of Power, and the Viper sword diagrams. That page stops before Velen so later-act endings stay unspoiled.

You want the inn table or a screenshot session. Gwent is still the tavern card game, including extra cards discussed for Songs of the Past. Photo Mode is the remaster’s expanded camera — REDstreams Day 4 ran a dedicated new photomode overview — and it still uses the next-gen shortcuts (U / L3+R3 / LS+RS) with stills in Documents\The Witcher 3\screenshots.

After the mechanical pages, branch into loadouts. The Builds Hub collects the Skill Tree, Best Builds, and Transmog articles so a Griffin set can look like Feline plate without throwing the armor stats away. Patch and platform context lives under What’s New, Platforms, and Songs of the Past. Hardware floors and image-quality knobs are on System Requirements and Graphics Settings. Character primers start at Characters, including Geralt and Ciri. Storefronts and studio channels sit on Official Links.

What the remaster changes for guide readers

Classic systems still apply. Steel is for humans and beasts; silver is for monsters. The five Signs remain Aard, Igni, Yrden, Quen, and Axii. Alchemy still means potions, oils, bombs, and decoctions, gated by toxicity. Places of Power still grant an ability point the first time you draw from each stone. Witcher gear schools are still Griffin, Feline, Ursine, Wolven, and Manticore, with Grandmaster work waiting in Toussaint during Blood and Wine. Gwent still lives in inns. Difficulty is still Just the Story, Story and Sword, Blood and Broken Bones, and Death March. White Orchard is still the opening region.

What changes is how those systems feel, which is why 2015 or 2022 clips can teach the wrong muscle memory. Enhanced combat, improved traversal, revamped mount handling, and refined animations mean a “stand still, hold Quen, mash light attack” video will undersell both the new finishers and the extra engagement distances Yigsoft talked through after Gamescom. New Signs FX make it clearer when a blast actually connected; enhanced monster behaviors make bestiary prep more important, not less. The skill tree revamp and armor transmog mean a fashion set is no longer locked to its numbers. Looting rework, new quest tracking, UI improvements, immersive meditation, tutorial modernization, and accessibility options change the first-hour checklist even if you could recite the griffin bait recipe from memory.

The visual stack — HDR, foliage shading, ray tracing, global lighting, a new shading model, subsurface scattering, a new tone mapper, DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, XeSS 2.0, path tracing with ray reconstruction, ray-traced hair, native DirectX 12, rendering parallelization, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Play Anywhere, and Switch 2 exclusive features — does not replace mechanical advice. If a PC misses the minimum, stay on or revert to the classic build on Steam or GOG rather than forcing a slideshow through the mill.

Songs of the Past is a paid expansion planned for 2027 from Fool’s Theory: a new region called Letten, a chain weapon, Dandelion, and a dark secret under rural festivals. Buying that expansion on Battle.net is also the path CD PROJEKT RED announced for a Geralt-inspired Diablo IV skin, with details pointed at BlizzCon. None of that replaces oils, Signs, or a clean White Orchard routing pass in 2026.

Open one guide, then the sibling it links. The Continent is large; the opening region is not, and the remaster is not a reason to skip the well, the garrison chest, or a Swallow before the first griffin dive.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the Remastered upgrade, builds, and story.

Which guide should I open first?

If you have never finished White Orchard, start with Getting Started and the White Orchard Walkthrough. If you already own the game and only need the September 29, 2026 build, use How to Upgrade.

Do I still need alchemy and Signs after the combat changes?

Yes. Enhanced combat and new finishers do not retire oils, Quen, or toxicity management. Read the Combat Guide together with Signs and Alchemy, especially on Blood and Broken Bones or Death March.

Is The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered a new story?

No. Geralt still searches for Ciri in a single-player open-world RPG. The remaster overhauls presentation, combat feel, traversal, the skill tree, and quality-of-life systems. New story content is the 2027 paid expansion Songs of the Past.

Where do I check PC specs, graphics, and platforms?

Use System Requirements for the Windows 11, SSD, and DirectX 12 floor, Graphics Settings for DLSS 4.5, FSR 4, XeSS 2.0, and path tracing, and Platforms for store and console differences.

What happened to Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine?

Base-game owners gained access to both expansions at no extra cost on August 25, 2026. The remaster applies the same visual and gameplay pass to those campaigns. Claim steps are in How to Upgrade.

Should returning players reread White Orchard at all?

Yes if you want Viper diagrams, unused Places of Power, or a clean griffin fight under the new targeting and monster behavior. The White Orchard Walkthrough is written for that pass and does not spoil later acts.

Where are Gwent and photo mode?

Inn rules and extra cards sit on Gwent. The expanded camera, including the Day 4 REDstreams overview and the next-gen shortcuts, sits on Photo Mode.
